The AVH-W4500NEX supports a cable free connection between your smartphone and the receiver using Wi-Fi® wireless connectivity. Now compatible with both Android Auto Wireless (available on Google Pixel and Nexus devices)¹ and Android Auto over USB, the AVH-W4500NEX makes it easier than ever to connect. Android Auto¹ makes it easier to access your favorite navigation, media and communication apps on the road while minimizing distractions.

Compatibility with Apple CarPlay supports connecting to an iPhone® device using either a wireless connection or a wired USB connection.

Android Auto

The AVH-W4500NEX also features Android Auto, which extends the Android platform into the car in a way that’s purpose-built for driving. Android Auto automatically brings you useful information and organizes it into simple cards that appear just when they’re needed. It’s designed to minimize distraction so you can stay focused on the road ahead.

Android Auto is compatible with Android phones running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or later. Android Auto may not be available on all devices.

Apple CarPlay

The AVH-W4500NEX features Apple CarPlay, the smarter, safer and more fun way to use your iPhone® in the car. Apple CarPlay gives iPhone users an incredibly intuitive way to make calls, use Maps, listen to music, and verbally send and listen to messages with just a word or a touch. Apple CarPlay requires iPhone 5 or newer with the latest version of iOS.

Dual Back Up Camera Input Ready

Dual Back up Camera inputs enable you to add a reverse (rear facing) camera and front facing camera that can assist with front and rear visibility, towing, or parking.

Hands-Free Calling and Audio Streaming

Stay safe and obey local hands-free laws with built-in Bluetooth (HFP). Easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the AVH-W4500NEX without having to go through complicated settings. When a registered Bluetooth device is in proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units.

From hands-free calling, wireless audio streaming (A2DP) with artist, album, and song search*, simple pairing, and control audio (AVRCP profile), Bluetooth® wireless technology has made life in the vehicle much more convenient.

The AVH-W4500NEX with Bluetooth also includes superior call quality reception using Wideband Speech Handsfree Profile 1.6. Wideband Speech nearly doubles the bandwidth of frequencies of a normal Bluetooth call (when compared to calls without Wideband Speech)**.

Other features include the ability to browse music libraries on smartphones wirelessly.

With the AVH-W4500NEX, you can enjoy superior sound quality and full control of the Pandora experience in your car directly from the touchscreen display of the receiver. You are able to give tracks “thumbs up” or “thumbs down,” bookmark a song so you can purchase it later, easily switch between your personalized radio stations, and view full track data and album art.

Pandora is compatible with Apple iOS, as well as Android devices that support the Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP). Simply download the free Pandora Radio app to your iPhone or Android device, connect to the AVIC-W6500NEX and take your music to the next level.

iDataLink Maestro

Keep your factory features and expand your level of in-vehicle connectivity with Pioneer NEX and iDatalink Maestro RR. When your AVH-W4500NEX receiver is installed in a compatible vehicle using the iDatalink Maestro RR interface (sold separately), you’ll be able to enjoy the performance and features of the AVH-W4500NEX receiver plus touchscreen control over key factory audio features.

The AVH-W4500NEX supports factory functions via the iDatalink Maestro RR interface including: Steering Wheel Controls, Media Player (including the factory AUX-in and USB ports), Hands-Free Telephone, Voice Commands, Satellite Radio, and Secondary Display Support.

USB Direct Control for iPhone

Pioneer’s AVH-W4500NEX is ready to roll with direct connectivity to your iPhone* for music and video via USB. Song, artist, time and album information are beautifully displayed on the touchscreen.

The system’s wired USB connection provides direct digital signal transfer from the device for clean, clear sound while providing 1.5 amp of current to keep your iPod/iPhone charged.
